I see we have new members almost every day, but i rarely see the new members say much.

Feel free to introduce yourself here. As a group, we are a friendly, jovial bunch most of the time. There is trapping talk, but don't limit your conversation to just that.

We are a mostly like minded bunch that loves the outdoors, our country and our families.

He is a little about me to start.

I have been a member here for a few years, dating back to the old board. I haven't been real active in the last year due to running for public office. I am a lic civil engineer (insert lack of civility joke here) and surveyor. I own a consulting firm.

I am firstly a father and husband. I have just one child presently, but a second gift from God is one its way in July (<-- new information to most!) I live in north central Ohio and i trap coon well, but coyotes are my passion, because they are a challenge to me.

I started trapping in junior high, but had a several year hiatus in the early years of my career. I was working 70+ hr weeks on a regular basis and money and split tail were more important. It took my nephew to show in interest in trapping to get me back in the gave and i am very glad i did.

I have not trapped this year as i saw my family very little over the 8 month leadig up to the electio / season and decided time spent with them was more important that boarding fur this year. The greasy coon and stinkin coyotes will be there next year.

There is my story. What's yours? You can tell your story while still remaining somewaht anonymous if you like, see my post above. Specifics about me, but lacks the detail to trace. If this board is going to stay viable, it needs participation. Have a question? Ask. There is alot of years trapping, hunting, fishing and living posting on this board.

Good to meet you Andy. I'm Tom . I'm the father of 3 ,grandfather to 9 .This is my 4th season trapping .My 1st experience was trapping otter with a mentor of sorts and now I have a state nwco liscense .my 1st job was in a German meat market where I did an apprenticeship to become a butcher . Removing glands from cuts of meat was routine and when i read about lure/bait making I kind of felt it was already in my genes. Unfortunately when one is in the food business everything you do turns to crap and it wasn't very gratifying .So after moving to Texas I completed a 4 year apprenticeship and became a carpenter. But after returning to NY I quickly learned that I was considered a traveler because I transferred my book from Texas . I soon after started my own business and have since designed and built 2 2-family houses that I now own and rent . I'm a recovering alcohol hic . Because I joined match.com and was looking to meet a woman that wasn't a drinker , I met the love of my life in china in 2008 . Because she looks half her age I get go to hell looks from people wherever we go. Or maybe they don't approve of our interacial marriage . Whatever. I'm just glad to be here. My 14 yo grandson is here tonight and we're going trapping in the morning . Thanks for this post Andy . I think its a great idea. ...Tom

Good Idea Andy. Hi Andy and Tom

I am Mac, Bill for short LOL and I am 67 years young. I have been on this site since maybe a year after it started in the old place and made the move over here with the rest of the gang. I have never found this place stuffy. People are very helpful but not overbearing with their more knowing attitudes and you can usually say what you feel without wrecking the place or being tossed out.

I have trapped for 57 years now and still look forward to crossing a hill in the morning with anticipation of seeing what I may have caught. I have trapped fox, coyote, coon, skunks, possum (I am king), bobcat, muskrat, mink, weasel and beaver. I just enjoy the sport. I have lived in this present area after growing up on a lake in PA for 45 years, I taught Biology in high school and was the head football coach for 18 years and the athletic director the last 18 years of my 36 year career. My contact with so many has opened tens of thousands of acres of private land to me to trap and hunt which I love to do. I operated a taxidermy business for over 40 years and still hold my license although I feel I have officially retired. I do a few items for special folks each year.

I am married to my childhood sweetheart for 45 years and we have five children who are all college educated having either masters degrees or doctorates. Am I bragging here...you bet. I have strong christian values and feel I have been abundantly blessed in life. Family is a very big part of my life and many of my children and grandchildren love trapping and hunting and fishing with me.

I've been around the block a time or two.
Couple people on here know me and another handle I use to go by.
Which I can no longer use.
Anyway I'm friendly and foregiving(sometimes).
I've trapped a good portion of the western states and know a thing or two about this and that.

Nice post!!

My Name is Tyler Smith, Im 29. Im from PA and i been a welder since my junior year of high school at the same job of almost 13 yrs now. Although im looking to get into the railroad for better pay and benefits. I met my now wife in high school, been together for 13 yrs now and have 2 kids. Im in my 5th year of trapping and its addicting and most defenitly cost me more money than i make, but i love it. I target coyotes, but set for others to help the fuel bill some. Other than trapping i tinker with dermestid beetles for skull cleaning and enjoy hunting when i can and taking the kids along.

That about all of my boring life. So come on folks, add to the list and post away!!

Hey all, only been trapping since 2000 for fur, NWCO since '98. It seems I did it backwards. Big difference between the two, although much is the same. Fur trapping keeps me in the woods after archery deer. I may have even registered on here a few years ago, but didn't post a lot. I took a couple year hiatus from trapping the last two years. I consider myself a newbie still, learning as I go.

Eli saunderlin age 30 butchered all my life. Served in the army for 11 years as a paratrooper. been on this site for a few years but didnt post much for a spell do to deployments. TRapped with my dad when i was a kid and just kinda fell into it when i had the chance. Havent been the best stewart at times but trying to change my ways in a lot of ways. I love to target coyotes makes me mad when i miss and happy as can be when i connect.
I like to trap becouse it gets me into the woods and allows my head to clear from the stress of life and other things. Trying to find a kid who would like to learn what i know aint much but im still learning.
Any kids around wellsboro pa that want to go or anyone know any?

Hello all,
I'm Jason in Kodiak, Alaska. Moved here 5 years ago from northern Minnesota. I am a USCG Licensed charter boat Captain, a river guide, and a self taught fox trapper (hobby) in the winter. I hadn't ever used a trap until about 5 years ago and I'm really getting it now. I use snares exclusively and my goal is 100 this season. Our season is Nov 15-March 31.
There are red fox, cross fox, and silver fox here up to around 30lbs. Please check out my introduction post, there's a few good pictures on there.

Well my name is JD. Im in my late 20's and have two wonderful children and a smoking hot wife that tolerats my extreme hobbies, like hunting and trapping. I am a deputy sheriff, been there 6 years. If I pull the full 25 I will be set for life. As long as OBAMA does not mess it up anymore. I then plan on trapping ADC and Taxidermy after I retire. (no compitition here FISHGUTS, Im a rookie!)...... Had a ruff season this year do to my father suddenly passing away. Only got to hunt till Nov.12. That was when I found out he had cancer and had less than a year. I just wasnt in the mood after that news. he ended up passing away on Dec. 4th. He didnt even make it a month. I have been through some bad shit fellas but this tops them all. The hardest part was explaining to my 5 year old that her poppy is going to heaven. bad times, bad times. It is catching up to me but it still feels like a bad dream. Then in Feb. My first son was born. He is a TANK!

My season was wrecked by some bad/good life experiences but I still managed to pull about two weeks trapping after all that. It was hard to get the energy to do it but when I did I feel like DAD was helping me out. Caught my frist two back to back bobcats and got an otter too. few yotes some foxes and a crap load of coon. and a wall hanger ten pointer in bow season. and yes My life is a crazy rollor coaster. well that is a little about me and my recent events.
